Services

  • Garden Design

Specializing in native plants, ecological landscaping, and making the most of small city lots, I am here to help you turn your yard into a space that is more inviting, engaging, and life-giving for you, your family, friends and neighbors.

  • Installation and Project Management

After designing your garden, I will make it happen, whether it is getting those plants in the ground myself or assembling a team of professionals for everything from grading and tree removal to fence and patio installation. Worry not, we’ll get it done.

  • Consulting/ Coaching

Whether you are new to gardening, want to improve an existing garden, or have a tough problem to solve, I can work with you on a project or hourly basis to help with tasks such as plant choices, stormwater management, ecological weed control, or other projects.

  • Rain Gardens and Stormwater Management

Urban flooding is on the rise (see what I did there). Plants—especially our native prairie plants with their impressive underground root systems—were specially designed by nature to absorb, filter, and slow stormwater runoff. Most importantly, they improve soil structure, creating channels for water percolation. They are the OG flood control system!

  • Habitat and Pollinator Gardens

If you plant it, they will come. Birds, bees, butterflies, and countless microscopic creatures depend on functioning plant communities to survive. I can help you plant a garden that supports the natural food chain and in turn supports climate resilience in our urban environment.

  • Stewardship/Maintenance

Part of ecological garden design involves planning a garden so that it requires fewer harmful inputs (e.g. fertilizers, herbicides, and excessive watering) and generates less waste. After the initial watering phase, what remains is thoughtful monitoring, weeding, editing, and conservative seasonal cleanup. I will teach you how to manage your new plant communities and can be available for regular or occasional stewardship services.

  • Speaking Engagements

I am available for lectures and workshops on gardening with native plants and other topics in garden ecology. I would love to come speak to your group.

  • Seasonal Plant Sales

Watch this space for seasonal plant sales. Would you like to host a plant sale as a benefit for your nonprofit? I’m happy to talk to you about it.
