Angela Bowman designs and creates green spaces that not only look beautiful but also provide sanctuary and bring us closer to nature. Ecological garden design has the power to restore wildlife habitat and regenerate essential ecological processes.

After learning to garden at her mother’s knee, Angela has spent much of her adult life puttering around in the vegetable garden, building and rebuilding perennial beds, and studying native plant catalogues. Drawn to its life-giving properties, Angela turned to landscape design after 25+ years in educational publishing, where she specialized in curriculum design and making complex topics accessible to the K–12 audience. She continues her work as an educator and communicator with her clients and the general public.

In her free time she can be found somewhere along the well-worn path between the kitchen and the back yard, whether cooking, harvesting, weeding, chatting, admiring, scheming, ordering seeds, etc. She also spends time walking through the many wonderful parks and natural areas in Chicago and Cook County. Angela has completed 99% of the work toward the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Certificate in Garden Design.

Bowman Gardens serves Chicago area and the near suburbs.
