PLANT SALE UPDATE

If you’ve pre-ordered your plants, they will be available for pickup at the Uptown Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 17 from 2:30–7:00 p.m.

The market is on the Sunnyside Mall, which is a two-block pedestrian zone between Beacon and Magnolia. It is a lovely, leafy spot tucked in a residential neighborhood. As such, you will have to rely on street parking and you may well have to carry your plants for a few blocks. If you’ve ordered more plants than you can easily carry, you might want to bring a wagon or shopping cart.

In addition to these orders I will have about 200 extra plants for sale. See complete inventory and price list here.

Welcome to the first-ever Bowman Gardens plant sale! I am offering a collection of native perennials (and a few small shrubs) that tend to do well in most Chicago garden sites. You can shop in one of two ways:

  • Shop a la carte from the Prairie/Savanna Collection (for sunny sites) or the Woodland/Edge Collection (for shadier sites)

  • Buy a Prairie or Woodland Combo Kit, each designed to fill a 60 square-foot site.

To order plants:

  1. Download the catalog to learn about the available plants.*

  2. Download the order sheet to your desktop—it’s not meant to be completed online.

  3. Complete your copy of the order sheet by March 31st and email it to plantsale@bowman-gardens.com. I will send order confirmation and an invoice within two business days.

  4. Pick up plants at the Uptown Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 17.

All plants are native to and grown in the Midwest, with the vast majority of them grown right here in Northeastern Illlinois.

I will be donating ten percent of the profits to the Chicago Market Coop, a community grocery store coming soon to Uptown. I have been a member of Chicago Market for a number of years and can’t wait to start shopping there for sustainably and locally grown foods. Thank you for supporting two local business.
